The Full Moon in Gemini lights up the sky on December 7th at 11:08pm ET. This Full Moon is visible and loud – asking to be seen and known as the Moon meets up with Mars towards the final half of his retrograde cycle. Perfectly conjunct Mars at the same degree, the Full Moon highlights the actions and motivations we’ve been reviewing since Mars stationed retrograde on October 30th. If you’ve been unclear about what this Mars retrograde in Gemini means for you, this Full Moon shines its light directly on it.

Mars retrograde and Mars conjunct this Moon is all about the actions we’ve been taking in our lives and how it’s been growing or destroying. Mars is all or nothing, there’s no in-between or grey area here. Either you’ve been progressing and expanding this area of your life, or you’ve been completely separating and pulling apart from it. The Full Moon will intensify this – either it will separate everything apart even more, or it will bring intense motivation and energy to achieve. You’ll have it all and it may be too much, or you’ll have nothing, and it may be too little.

It’s not bad, but it can be jarring. Intensity is the theme for this Full Moon, and it’ll be hard to avoid it. However, the Sun and Venus still in Sagittarius will prep you with some optimism and hope, as well as giving you the energy to get through whatever challenges or obstacles you may have to overcome. Venus will also run into a square with Jupiter in Pisces on December 9th which may increase the desire to escape and create joy against whatever work needs to be done. There’s a potential to overdo it with this aspect, but it may provide some relief from the fire of Mars.

Late on December 9th Venus will then shift into Capricorn to join Mercury. The two planets now in the hardworking earth sign will provide some stability to the passions we’ve been pursuing. With Saturn taking rulership of this sign, it may feel a little more sober and slow, but those qualities are necessary to build lasting structures.

Mercury in Capricorn will trine Uranus in Taurus on December 17th, and Venus in Capricorn will also move into this same aspect on December 22nd. These trines with Uranus push us to take whatever structures and goals we’ve started to pursue in Sagittarius season and apply them in a more untraditional as well as disrupting fashion. They remind us that tradition has its benefits, but also its pitfalls. It’s okay to look into the future and see what implications and changes need to be addressed, as the world is also constantly changing and transforming around us.

Jupiter will reenter Aries for the final time on December 20th and will be there until May 15th, 2023 where it moves into Taurus for good. Jupiter was in Aries this year from May 11th through October 28th, and this reentry will resume the themes of expansion, motivation, and growth in whatever area of life Aries rules for you. In general, this will manifest in a desire to expand oneself and your personal growth and needs, as well as feeling a fire lit within you to go after what you want. This is a great motivation to make moves and changes in your life from now until May.

Finally, the Sun will enter Capricorn on December 21st and will promptly square Jupiter in Aries at zero degrees of these cardinal signs. The Sun in Capricorn welcomes the official start of Winter and the shortest day of the year, and with the square to Jupiter will help it feel loud and motivating. We may feel enthusiastic with Jupiter’s movement into this fire sign, but the Sun in Capricorn will temper that a bit and ask us to really make plans and set milestones for how we want to achieve Jupiter’s dreams. The New Moon in Capricorn will emphasize this more.

Let’s look at where this current astrology is happening to you specifically.

GEMINI & GEMINI RISING

Mars retrograde has been asking you to review yourself, your drive, your motivation, and how you present yourself authentically to the world. This Full Moon in Gemini conjunct Mars shines the light on how this has been working for you or against you. How have you been growing personally, and are you satisfied with it? What parts of yourself have you been changing, letting go of, or increasing attention in? Since Sagittarius season has been bringing in more one-on-one relationships into your life, or emphasizing the important ones there, it’s okay to ask for feedback or bounce ideas off others. But make sure you’re not letting yourself get carried away by relationships and other people’s vision for you. You are asked to define that for yourself.

Mercury and Venus in Capricorn are bringing attention to the more hidden parts of your life, as well as touching on money especially other people’s finances, loans, any partner’s money, and working with others. This may bring collaborations into the mix or changing up some aspect of your beliefs around money and wealth. Know that whatever tradition you’ve been taught about feeling abundant and expansive in life is okay to be challenged. You’re allowed to make a life for yourself where you feel successful and able to celebrate that success, and not have to drown yourself in work to get there.

CANCER & CANCER RISING

Spirituality, mental health, and all the events that have been occuring behind the scenes are brought to light during this Full Moon conjunct Mars in Gemini. This may’ve been a big review for you since the end of October, either asking you to put more time here or let go of this space. Internally you may be experiencing conflict between the intense desire to attend to your personal needs against your outside world responsibilities. Has your mind been a desirable place to retreat to? Or are you trying to avoid it at all costs? Reflect on what healing is taking place here and where you may be getting in your way by avoiding the necessary inner work. This Full Moon will show you what still needs attention, and may ask you to pull back from the work responsibilities for a bit.

As the planets shift into Capricorn, this will provide increased attention onto your one-on-one relationships and partnerships. You may be able to speak out about what you’re dealing with internally and allow those within your inner circle to help you see what’s real and what’s harming you. Your friendships may surprise you with their insight, so it’s necessary to break free from the traditional expectations you may’ve had about the people you surround yourself with. New ideas can open up new horizons for you both internally and with new, and fun, outside experiences.

LEO & LEO RISING

The Full Moon in Gemini illuminates your larger community and friendships, not necessarily the close and personal ones, but those you are spending more time with overall. Mars retrograde has been reviewing this area of your life since the end of the October, and the Full Moon will show you how friendships have been important to your growth, or have completely been pushed aside to attend to other needs. Notice what conflict may arise either within your different friend groups or your desire to focus on them versus yourself. Are you feeling fulfilled with this area of your life or is it draining you? Pay attention to what the Full Moon highlights here, and it will help you understand what needs to change or be let go of within your community.

Mercury and Venus shifting into Capricorn will put more emphasis on your work responsibilities, daily work life, as well as pet needs and relationships with your employers and employees. As these planets connect with Uranus, notice where in your career you’re asked to be more of a disrupting force, and go against the traditional structures of your public roles. It’s okay to challenge the status quo, especially in places where you see there needs to be change or an alignment with the current world environment. If you approach it carefully, it’s likely to be well-accepted.

VIRGO & VIRGO RISING

Your career and public roles in the world has been your focus and review since the Mars retrograde starting in late October, and now the Full Moon in Gemini will highlight your progress or your loss here. Perhaps there’s been big motivation and desire to pursue growth in your career and it’s been working for you, or maybe you’re looking to make a big role change that has been somewhat frustrating and difficult to achieve. Work may just be taking up a lot of your time overall, and this Full Moon will ask you to review if it’s been satisfying to you. Where do you need to put more time and energy to make the career work for you? Or are you spending too much here and it’s time to let go of something?

This is especially important as Mercury and Venus shift into Capricorn and place more attention onto your creative needs and desire to have fun with life, and perhaps even the needs of your children. Make sure a balance is in place so you can attend to both work and fun, and not let the pendulum swing too far to one side. As these planets connect with Uranus, be open to shakeups or changes with your long-term plans and overall direction in life. Including your creative dreams and goals into your future objectives will feel necessary to you.

LIBRA & LIBRA RISING

Long-term plans, goals for the future, as well as long distance travel and/or expanding your mind with school or new information is the focus for this Full Moon in Gemini conjunct Mars. There’s been a big pull for action and review here, asking you to reflect on where you’re going with your life and if you’re ready to take a leap of faith. While Mars present with the Moon could be asking you to spend energy working on your life goals, there may also be a big separation here and your focus could be primarily on getting through the day-to-day. This Full Moon will highlight what feels good and what doesn’t in terms of your overall direction, and perhaps even motivate you to set a plan into place.

As the Mercury and Venus shift into Capricorn, more attention will be pulled into your home life and living environment, asking you to define and understand what home means to you. This can include parents, relatives, and your childhood history. Uranus will emphasize the need for you to take an untraditional approach to home than the way you were raised to do so. This can be in the form of defining your own way of celebrating the holidays, or just separating your new family from the past. Even if it’s a little bit disrupting to others, know that it’s important for your home life to have its own signature.

SCORPIO & SCORPIO RISING

This Full Moon in Gemini conjunct Mars brings an intense awareness and connection to your partnerships, both business and personal, and what collaborations are present and/or what money is flowing between the two of you. With Mars retrograde here since the end of October, you may’ve been taking great action with other people and generating collaborations that are beneficial to your work and overall life, or there’s been a large separation here and it may feel like you’re doing everything yourself. What work with other people has been satisfying or helpful? Where are you asked to pull most of the weight? Where do you need to ask for more help? Reviewing this growth will help you set appropriate goals for the New Year, and communicating these needs to those involved will be helpful during the Full Moon.

The communication aspect is further emphasized as Mercury and Venus shift into Capricorn and keep your daily routines busy. Expressing what you’re learning about yourself, asking for assistance, and/or communicating any problems to your friends and partners will be necessary during this period. Be open to accepting help and maybe breaking down whatever traditional beliefs about relationships you were taught growing up. It’s necessary and important to you that your one-on-one connections have a unique approach, even if others on the outside don’t quite understand it.

SAGITTARIUS & SAGITTARIUS RISING

One-on-one relationships and your partnerships both romantic and platonic are highlighted under the Full Moon in Gemini. Mars retrograde has been reviewing this area of your life since late October, perhaps asking you to reflect on what relationships are your current priority and how they are supporting or draining you. With this Full Moon conjunct Mars, you may have great motivation to spend time with your close partnerships and put more energy here, or you’ll have an intense need to separate out from them and spend time with yourself. It’s important to get clear on what you want out of these relationships and find those who build you up instead of bringing you down. What does the ideal relationship look like to you? Do you need to spend more time alone or with them?

As Mercury and Venus shift into Capricorn more attention will move onto your money and finances, including how you make money as well as spend it. Work and jobs will come into play and be a big focus in your life, especially as these planets connect to Uranus. With this planet of unexpected upheaval, something at work may be disrupted, or you’ll be pushed to change the structures of your daily work life and how income flows to you. Traditional approaches are not necessary, it’s time to think outside the box for how you want to generate money and stability in your future.

CAPRICORN & CAPRICORN RISING

The Full Moon in Gemini shines its light on your work routines, day-to-day work life, body health, pets, and/or your relationship with employees or employers. With Mars also retrograde here since the end of October, there may be a motivation or desire to take action or even pull away from this part of your life, maybe asking you to redefine what work means to you. This could mean working to transform your daily work routine into something more satisfying, or completely separating from certain employers or a work/life balance that has not been serving you. What actions are you asked to take in your daily work routines? What do you want to change here? Finding something that lights the fire within and keeps you excited is necessary during this Full Moon.

Mercury and Venus are moving out of the house ruling your mental health, spirituality, and hidden projects into your own house of self, identity, body, and personal growth. There’s a big push here to learn how to align your authenticity with your work life. Especially as the planets connect with Uranus, you may be more motivated to find ways you can express yourself creatively and feel excited about the fun parts of life again. Look for ways to create and enjoy your days that are outside any traditional method you’ve been taught. Honor them, even if it’s weird. It’s needed for you to learn how to be the disrupting (and fun!) force in your life.

AQUARIUS & AQUARIUS RISING

Your creative projects, motivations to have fun, children’s needs, and overall zest for life is illuminated by the Full Moon conjunct Mars in Gemini. There may be big motivation for you to enjoy life, try out new creative projects, and express yourself through these actions. Or perhaps work and other relationships have been taking up most of your time, and your creative and fun needs have been put on the back burner. With the Mars retrograde highlighted under this Full Moon, it’s important for you to review and reflect on what progress or separation there has been with your creative life, and how it has been exciting or a chore. Are you having enough fun with your life? Are you satisfied with your inventive side, or does there feel like something is missing?

This reflection is further emphasized as Mercury and Venus enter into Capricorn, putting more energy and time into your mental health, spiritual needs, and overall inner spaces. They will have you reflecting on your more personal parts of life and how content you are with your own growth. If there’s been a disruption or shakeup in your home or living environment, it’s important to assess how you can take care of yourself or maybe approach your home environment a little more untraditionally so you can find the space to heal.

PISCES & PISCES RISING

Your home and family life, what feels like home to you, your parents, and perhaps even your childhood past is highlighted under the Full Moon in Gemini. With Mars retrograde in this sign since late October, this area of your life may also be a place of big review and reevaluation. You may’ve been motivated to make changes here and transform your living environment to one that feels comfortable and healing to you. Or on the flip side, you’ve been spending more time outside the home and seeking comfort from other areas of life, perhaps finding yourself separating from a traditional “home.” This Full Moon is a good time to reflect on what has changed. Are you happy with your living environment? Is there something you want to let go of or transform? Now is the time to review and put forth any necessary action as Mars wraps up his retrograde.

Mercury and Venus moving into Capricorn will have you communicating and spending more time with your friends and larger community. Be open to new experiences with different groups of people, and don’t be afraid to meet up with those you wouldn’t traditionally spend time with. Broadening your experience and exposing yourself to different personalities will help you learn more about yourself overall, and how you can express and meet your needs with different groups.

ARIES & ARIES RISING

The Full Moon in Gemini illuminates your conversations, day-to-day rituals and tasks, and any close relationships with siblings or friends that feel like siblings. The way you communicate and express your needs may’ve been going through an overhaul as Mars stationed retrograde in this sign in late October. Now this Full Moon wants you to review how you’re spending your energy on tackling tasks, communicating, and/or spending time with those you care about the most. Or the Moon and Mars may show how you’ve been avoiding this part of your life altogether and keeping your needs hidden. Where have you been asked to express yourself more authentically? Are you honoring these needs or simply just grinding through your day-to-day? Know that it’s okay to pull back when it gets overwhelming, but don’t ignore it completely.

Communication and handling your busy days becomes even more important as Mercury and Venus enter into your house of career and public roles. Here, more attention will be drawn to the ways you make and spend money, and if your career is supporting that need. It’s important to lean into those income flows and career challenges that are more disrupting and untraditional in nature. This can be in the form of technology advances or just restructuring your overall role. Pushing forward new innovations will reward you financially.

TAURUS & TAURUS RISING

Money, income, and resources are all the topics this Full Moon is highlighting for you. This includes the way you make money and even spend it, and how much energy and time you’ve been spending here since the Mars retrograde starting in late October. The Full Moon may show your motivations and drive to generate income and financial stability for yourself, and the actions you’re pushed to do to make that happen. Or perhaps there’s been a big decrease of income and you’ve spent these months separating from your old ways of making money that no longer serve you. How are you generating resources now, and do you feel satisfied with it? Are there new ideas on the horizon about how you want to change your financial flow to better support yourself?

Mercury and Venus are shifting into the area of your life that highlights your long-term plans, long distance travel, religion and philosophy, and overall direction and goals for the future. You may be motivated to expand your mind and find new ways to grow yourself. This may also have you looking more towards the future and what your five-year plan looks like. Know that changes or disruptions here may be necessary, especially as you’re learning new information about yourself that breaks apart from what you thought was fixed and stable. A fresh perspective may be needed, so stay open for those new ideas.
