Venus Retrograde through the Signs
We’re finishing up one major retrograde cycle with Mars, only to be greeted by another (and another) for this Spring. Venus stations retrograde on March 1st, 2025 and her backtracking through Aries will bring a continuation of the Mars retrograde in Cancer. On March 27th, 2025 she will continue to retrograde back into Pisces, ushering in another Fire/Water retrograde theme we’ve been playing with since December.
Venus retrogrades in the same sign every eight years, so to more deeply understand this transit for yourself, you may like to reflect on March - April 2017. Similar themes will be brought up, but also new ones. Venus in astrology rules over what we desire, love, and wish to attract in our lives. Sometimes it’s relationships or finances, but ultimately it’s more unique to yourself and what you often desire to create more ease and abundance within. Considered to be a difficult sign for this planet, Venus is more likely to find something to fight for, to push up against, or to create a challenge to bring forth what she envisions the most desirable.
When she moves to Pisces, she will be close to Saturn and Neptune, reviewing the dynamics between love and boundaries, desire and elimination, ease and restriction. Saturn will be moving into Aries this year, so it may bring a wrap up of important themes when it comes to managing your emotions and feelings, and what you feel responsible for in relation to others and their needs.
Venus will also be retrograde with Mercury nearly around the same time. Mercury won’t be retrograde for as long as Venus, but they will also move between Aries and Pisces, delivering extra important messages and stories to the forefront of your Venus review. Sharing information can become increasingly mixed or confusing during this period of time, so it’s important to allow a lot of room for errors and correction. You don’t have to get everything right at once. You can experiment, try again, and give yourself a second chance.

ARIES & ARIES RISING
Venus will station retrograde in your sign, the first house of self, identity, and body. You may find yourself experiencing a review of who you are, perhaps an existential crisis on one end of the spectrum to just desiring a full makeover on the other. Mars’ retrograde has brought up a lot of themes of understanding what security, stability, and home truly means to you – Venus will then build on that theme by reviewing your sense of home within yourself and how you want to be perceived by others. You can expect this change to greatly challenge your relationships and your money as well, as Venus wants you to create more power and flow through your creations. Give yourself opportunities to approach your life as a first-time science experiment and make mistakes in the process, nothing has to be solidified now.
On March 27th, Venus will retrograde back into Pisces. Here you’ll be reviewing your experience of being alone and dealing with the darker aspects of your mind, spirituality, and ways you practice self-undoing or working through your own inner challenges. What you learn about yourself during the Aries period will help prepare you for this last transit. With Saturn here, it may be helpful to think of ways you can make a commitment to yourself first, instead of looking to others for approval or recognition of your strength.
TAURUS & TAURUS RISING
Venus stationing retrograde in Aries pulls you deep into the hidden corners and crevices of your mind, asking you to step away from demanding external experiences and take a deeper look at your inner world and spirituality. What does it mean for you to enjoy having time alone and being with yourself? As you’re taking more action out in the world, or dealing with conflict locally, it’s important you also have time alone to process, heal, and retreat. That’s Venus’ ultimate goal with this review - how can you find pleasure and ease with yourself to balance against burnout and being visible to others?
Venus will then retrograde back into Pisces on March 27th, shifting her review more to the external world of your friendships, community, bigger aspirations and goals. With a more established inner world, you may be desiring or open to new connections and interactions, encouraging friendships and more fun into your life. With Saturn’s recent long-term transit through this sign, that area may’ve felt more barren or limited.
